Step 0 — required

How will you use this hoist?

Pick the closest match. Each duty class has its own capacity envelope: the heavier the use, the lower the rated weight. Selecting a class lighter than your real-world use voids the manufacturer warranty and risks motor failure. If unsure, pick the highest expected class — the hoist you actually need.

1 Lifting capacity kg
2 Lift height m
3 Power supply

GPK low-headroom hoists are built for 3-phase mains only — 3 × 400 V is the workshop standard. 1-phase versions are not catalogued.

4 Lifting speed / chain falls

Two-speed NF (8/2 m/min @ 1 fall) is the recommended default — the slow stage gives precise positioning under low ceilings. N is single-speed, NL the slow version, SF doubles the speed at half capacity. 2-fall setups halve the speed and double the capacity. The GPK 1600 is catalogued with NF / NL / SF only.

5 Frame length (suspension spacing)

For large bulky loads the redirecting frame is built LONGER at the factory, so the load hangs clear of the hoist housing and the full lifting height stays usable. Pick the suspension/hook spacing to suit your goods — the standard frame fits most jobs. Minimum lengthened spacing: GPK 500 from 600 mm, GPK 1000 from 800 mm, GPK 1600 from 1000 mm; maximum 3000 mm for all sizes.

6 Suspension trolleys (GHF / GMF) — pair

The GPK frame hangs at two suspension points, so it travels on a PAIR of trolleys — prices shown are for 2 pieces. GHF are hand-pushed, GMF motorised (the 4-button pendant then drives both drive units in parallel). Pick 'no trolley' for fixed mounting points. Big GHF/GMF 4000–6300 trolleys on the GPK 1600 additionally need the suspension-part adapter pair (see Suspension).

7 Flange width (beam width)

Set the flange (bottom width) of the runway beam the trolley pair clamps onto — both trolleys are set to the same width. Surcharges are per pair.

8 Suspension (2 points)

The GPK frame hangs at TWO suspension points, so all suspension accessories come in pairs. Eyebolt suspensions are standard on the GPK 500/1000; on the GPK 1600 the eyebolt pair is a priced accessory and big GHF/GMF 4000–6300 trolleys require the suspension-part adapter pair instead.

9 Automatic chain oiler

The oil dispenser lubricates the redirected load chain automatically — recommended for frequent use, it extends chain life noticeably. STANDARD equipment on the GPK 1600 (pick the food-grade upgrade there if the hoist works above foodstuffs); optional set on the GPK 500/1000.

10 Chain bucket / container

The chain bucket collects the slack chain on the up stroke. Pick the material — we automatically fit the smallest GIS bucket size that holds your configured chain length.

11 Geared limit switch

Standard geared limit switch is included for 3-phase models. Dual emergency stops add a second redundant shut-off. External limit stops are required for tall installations and only work with a textile chain bucket.

12 Voltage / certification

Standard EU voltages are included. Special voltage covers non-standard motor windings. CSA/CUS execution adds North American certifications (60 Hz only).

13 Control switch / pendant

Premium switch variants apply on top of the standard pendant; the actual control cable length is selected in the next step. When a motorised GMF trolley is selected the pendant is automatically a 4-button + ES (GIS technical rule).

14 Control cable length

Standard cable matched to the lift is the GIS catalogue length (2-button: lift − 1.2 m; 4-button: lift − 1 m). Drag the slider or type any value between 2 and 60 m if you need a different length (e.g. multi-level installations). Catalogue tier prices apply when your length matches the standard for a 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 10 / 12 / 15 / 20 m lift; otherwise we charge basic set + per-metre.

15 Safety load hook

Replaces the standard load hook with a safety hook (latch plus higher safety factor). Required by some construction and entertainment industry sites.

16 Second brake

Adds a redundant brake for additional safety in lifting applications (entertainment industry, person-loading).

17 Thermal protection

Motor thermal protection. Klixon is a bimetal switch that physically opens the control circuit at the cut-off temperature; PTC is a thermistor that signals (no-trip variant) or shuts down the motor (with-trip variant) via a relay. These are alternative circuits — choose one.

18 Operating data counter

Tracks operating hours / cycles for predictive maintenance. Requires a 42 V control voltage (standard 3-Ph models).

19 Safety radio remote control

Wireless 2-button pendant with emergency stop. 42 V is the standard for 3-Ph hoists, 24 V for special low-voltage control. Selector switch lets one pendant operate multiple hoists.

The GIS GPK low-headroom models are designed for particularly low rooms and confined spaces. The load chain is deflected upwards through a redirecting frame, so the construction height shrinks dramatically compared with a conventionally suspended hoist — you win precious centimetres of lifting height under every low ceiling. A standard GIS GP electric chain hoist sits inside the frame, so the proven GP options remain available.

Key features

  • Low-headroom design — the chain is deflected upwards by a special guide in the frame, significantly reducing the construction height and maximising the hook path in low halls
  • A standard GIS GP electric chain hoist is integrated in the redirecting construction and delivered fully equipped
  • Three frame sizes: GPK 500 (up to 1000 kg), GPK 1000 (up to 2000 kg), GPK 1600 (up to 4000 kg @ 2 chain falls)
  • Hook position adjustable by the geared limit switch (standard); ergonomic control switch with emergency stop
  • Lengthened frame available for large and bulky loads — suspension/hook spacing factory-set from 600 mm up to 3000 mm so the load cannot collide with the housing
  • Two suspension points (eyebolt suspensions standard) — combine with a PAIR of GHF push or GMF motorised trolleys for travel along a monorail or crane girder
  • Speed profiles: single-speed N (8 m/min @ 1 fall), two-speed NF 8/2 m/min for fine positioning (default), slow NL, fast SF 16/4 m/min at reduced capacity
  • Automatic chain oiler standard on the GPK 1600, optional on GPK 500/1000 (food-grade oil available)
  • Options: safety radio remote control, operating data counter, Klixon temperature monitoring, second brake, safety load hooks, chain buckets, special voltages
  • Protection class IP65, insulation class F, load hooks DIN 15401; 3-phase mains 3 × 400 V / 50 Hz
  • Complies with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
