Step 0 — required

How will you use this hoist?

Pick the closest match. Each duty class has its own capacity envelope: the heavier the use, the lower the rated weight. Selecting a class lighter than your real-world use voids the manufacturer warranty and risks motor failure. If unsure, pick the highest expected class — the hoist you actually need.

1 Lifting capacity kg
2 Lift height (model) m
3 Power supply

Handy hoists are built for 3-phase mains only — 3 × 400 V is the workshop standard. 1-phase versions are not catalogued.

4 Lifting speed

Two-speed NF (8/2 m/min) is the Handy standard — the slow stage gives precise positioning. SF doubles the speed to 16/4 m/min at half the rated capacity. The GPH 500 (4 m) is also available as single-speed N or slow NL.

5 Load attachment

The Handy load suspension devices mount at the handle for quick fastening of loads. The threaded-bolt connector M12 accepts custom load suspension devices.

6 Slack chain switch

Stops the hoist if the chain goes slack (load set down or support failure). Catalogued for the GPH 500.

7 Thermal protection

Klixon thermostat protects the hoist motor from overheating under heavy hand-guided cycling. Catalogued for the GPH 500 (GP 250/500 frame).

8 Operating data counter

Records operating hours, cycles and overloads for maintenance planning. Catalogued for the GPH 500 (GP 250/500 frame).

The GIS Handy models GPMH 250 and GPH 500 mount the control handle directly on the load thread: the operator guides the transport good and drives the hoist with a single hand — ideal for fast, precise workstation handling. Because the handle sits at the chain end, an additional strain relief is not necessary and the chain can be guided precisely.

Key features

  • Control handle fixed at the chain end — the operator guides the load and controls lifting with ONE hand; no pendant or control cable needed
  • Suitable for left- and right-handed people; the control coil always returns to the starting position
  • GPMH 250: based on the GPM 250 mini hoist — up to 250 kg, 3 m standard lifting height, only 19 kg dead weight
  • GPH 500: based on the GP 500 — up to 500 kg, 4 m standard lifting height, 25 kg dead weight, catalogued up to duty class A7/M7 (3-shift)
  • Speed profiles: two-speed NF 8/2 m/min (default), fast SF 16/4 m/min at half capacity; GPH 500 also as single-speed N (8 m/min) or slow NL (4 m/min)
  • Quick fastening of loads: fixed load hook, rotatable load hook (GPH 500) or threaded-bolt connector M12 for custom load suspension devices
  • Optional slack chain switch (GPH 500) stops the hoist if the chain goes slack
  • Protection class IP65, insulation class F, load hook DIN 15401; 3-phase mains (3 × 400 V / 3 × 230 V)
  • Frequency-inverter (FU) soft-start versions of the GPH 500 and the GPHT 500 handy telescope model (for eccentric loads) available on request
  • Complies with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
