Webbing Slings with Loops
Webbing slings with loops
The flat webbing sling with reinforced loop ends is the everyday workhorse of textile rigging: light, inexpensive, gentle on the load surface and immediately readable thanks to colour-coding by working load limit. The TPO range covers the full ladder from the TPO100 (1000 kg) through the TPO500 up to the TPO2000 (20 000 kg) in straight lift.
The flat band spreads the load over a wide bearing surface — ideal for crates, machined parts and anything that a chain would mark — and the loops drop straight onto crane hooks and shackles. Where the hitch is mostly choked or the load shape is irregular, an endless round sling adapts better; for sharp edges, heat and abrasive duty step up to chain slings. If the sling will secure cargo on a vehicle rather than lift it, that is a different product with different standards — see truck lashing straps. Contact us for help sizing slings for your lifts.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose the right webbing sling capacity?
Start from the load weight and the hitch: straight lift uses the rated WLL, a choke hitch reduces it (typically to about 80 %), a basket hitch can raise it when the legs stay near vertical. With multi-leg arrangements the leg angle further reduces capacity — the factors are on the sling label.
Why are the slings colour-coded?
The colour identifies the working load limit at a glance — the same convention across textile slings — so a rigger cannot confuse a 2 t and a 5 t sling even from a distance. The stitched label remains the authoritative data source.
Can webbing slings be used on sharp edges?
Only with edge protection — a sharp edge under tension can cut polyester webbing. Use corner protectors or sleeves, or switch to chain slings where sharp, hot or abrasive contact is the norm rather than the exception.
Lifting sling or lashing strap — are they interchangeable?
No. Lifting slings are rated with lifting safety factors; ratchet lashing straps are certified for load securing with different design rules. Never lift with a lashing strap or lash with a lifting sling — each has its own certified role.
