Endless Round Slings
Endless round slings
An endless polyester round sling is the gentlest way to rig a load: the soft, wide sleeve hugs the surface without scratching paint, polished steel or machined faces, and the endless loop lets the rigger choose the hitch — straight, choked or basket — to suit each lift. The BKP range is colour-coded by working load limit and runs from the BKP10 (1000 kg) through the mid-range BKP50 up to the BKP200 (20 000 kg) in straight lift.
Because the load-bearing core rotates inside the protective sleeve, wear spreads around the whole circumference instead of one spot — one reason round slings outlast flat webbing in choked hitches. For lifts where a flat bearing surface or loop ends work better, see webbing slings with loops; for sharp-edged, hot or abrasive loads choose chain slings instead. Complete the rig with a crane or hoist rated for the job, and contact us if you need help choosing capacity and hitch.
Frequently asked questions
What do the sling colours mean?
Polyester slings are colour-coded by working load limit, so the rigger can identify capacity at a glance — e.g. violet for 1 t ascending through the standard colour scale as capacity grows. The WLL label on the sling remains the authoritative figure.
How does the hitch affect the capacity?
The rated WLL applies to a straight lift. A choke hitch reduces capacity (typically to about 80 %), while a basket hitch can double it if the legs stay near vertical. The factors for each hitch are stated on the sling's label and documentation — always rate the lift by the hitch actually used.
Round sling or webbing sling with loops?
A round sling adapts its shape to the load, excels in choke hitches and spreads wear around its circumference. A flat webbing sling with loops gives a defined flat bearing surface and simple attachment to hooks. Many riggers keep both and choose per lift.
When must a round sling be taken out of service?
At any visible damage to the protective sleeve that exposes the core fibres, chemical or heat damage, or an illegible label. Polyester slings are inspected before each use and periodically by a competent person — a damaged sling is replaced, never repaired.
