Truck Lashing Straps
Ratchet lashing straps
Load securing is a legal obligation, and the lashing strap is its basic tool: a polyester band with a ratchet tensioner and end fittings, certified to EN 12195-2 with the lashing capacity (LC) and standard tension force (STF) stated on the label. The two-piece DKG range covers the whole spectrum: from the DKG1-25 (25 mm) for light cargo through the standard DKG5-50 (50 mm) up to the DKG10-75 (75 mm) for machinery and steel.
The ERGO version of the DKG5-50 adds a long-handle ratchet that reaches higher pre-tension with less operator force — worth it for drivers who tension dozens of straps a day. For cargo that must be lashed with chain — heavy machinery, steel products, vehicles — see lashing chains; for unitising packages before they go on the vehicle, polyester strapping. Frequently asked questions
What do LC and STF on the label mean?
LC (lashing capacity) is the strap's rated securing force in daN used in load-securing calculations. STF (standard tension force) is the pre-tension the ratchet achieves, which is what actually holds the cargo down in friction lashing. Both figures, required by EN 12195-2, are printed on the strap label.
How many straps does my load need?
That follows from the load-securing calculation: cargo weight, friction between cargo and deck, lashing angle and the straps' STF (for top-over lashing) or LC (for direct lashing). As a rule of thumb heavy cargo always needs more straps than intuition suggests — send us the details and we will calculate it.
When must a lashing strap be discarded?
At cuts or fraying of the webbing, damaged stitching, deformed or cracked hooks and ratchets, or an illegible label. Straps are checked before each use — a damaged strap is replaced, never knotted or repaired.
Can I lift with a lashing strap?
No — lashing straps are certified for securing cargo, not for lifting; the design factors are different. For lifting use certified webbing or round slings.
