Lashing Chains
Lashing chains
When the cargo is an excavator, a steel coil or timber, straps give way to chain: certified grade 80 lashing chains with shortening hooks and ratchet load binders deliver lashing capacities no textile system reaches, and shrug off the sharp edges that destroy webbing. The CLZ programme covers the full range from the CLZ6 (LC 1000 daN) through the CLZ10 up to the CLZ16 (LC 9000 daN).
For general cargo where chain is overkill, ratchet lashing straps secure faster and gentler; for lifting (never with lashing equipment!) see chain slings. Contact us with the machine or cargo weight and the vehicle and we will calculate the lashing arrangement.
Frequently asked questions
How many lashing chains does a machine transport need?
That follows from the load-securing calculation: cargo weight, friction, lashing angles and whether the lashing is direct or friction-based. Direct diagonal lashing of tracked machinery typically uses four chains — send us the machine weight and tie-down points and we will calculate it.
What do the shortening hooks do?
They let the chain be shortened link by link, so the same chain fits different tie-down geometries and the ratchet binder works in its effective tensioning range instead of at the end of its stroke.
Can a lashing chain be used for lifting?
No — lashing and lifting chains are certified under different rules with different safety factors. For lifting use certified chain slings; the two must never be mixed, even when the components look similar.
How quickly can lashing chains be delivered?
Request a quote with chain sizes and quantities and we will confirm availability, the current lead time and the delivery cost for your location.
